Digital Girl Diary Entry: hell4ever (@hell4evr)

Dear Diary,

The desire to heal my inner child is the true driving force behind my art and everything that I do.

I’ve been drawing since I could hold a pencil, but I started drawing digitally about four years ago. When covid hit in 2020 and I had more time to draw, I wanted to create a copy-and-paste template that I could use for all of my dolls, rather than individually drawing each character’s facial features. Bratz was and still is my biggest inspiration design-wise. Big heads, pouty lips, and chunky platform shoes. While I don’t use that exact template anymore, the formula is still there, and I’m sure the design of my characters will continue to evolve. I’m so grateful to have a platform where people are able to scroll through my work and see how much I’ve grown as an artist. It’s the coolest thing ever.

The Y2K-ification pill was definitely swallowed from 2020-2022 when my art was a lot more colorful and centered around early 2000’s nostalgia. While I still enjoy everything from that era, now I’m focusing on creating art with a darker, muted, and neutral palette. I’m inspired by the colors and style used in the 1999 MTV animated series “Downtown”, which is incredible and I highly suggest you check it out if you haven’t already. I’m obsessed with that grungy, saturated, style and the realistic city atmosphere. One thing that I struggle with is backgrounds, so I started taking photos of weird sketchy-looking locations with my digital camera. Mixing mediums had never occurred to me, but I really like the result and the process as well. It’s a fun exercise to walk around and take photos in places where I can see one of my dolls standing such as a dark alley or my favorite: creepy public bathrooms.

As I enter adulthood, I want my work to feel mature while also feeding into the things I loved as a child. An example would be my “dress up” posts. When I was a kid, I would rush home from school and play MyScene and Polly Pocket dress-up games all afternoon. A hidden gem of mine was this Miley Cyrus makeover game on a random website that provided the craziest piercing options. Giving Miley Cyrus snake bites and eyebrow piercings was a little too enjoyable for me.

It’s always been a dream of mine to have my own dress-up game with hundreds of clothing options. My fingers are crossed, but in the meantime, I like to live this silly fantasy by drawing a bunch of clothes and numbering each piece so my followers can create their “outfit codes”.

What’s your Hysteria outfit code? Mine is 41AC.

Talking about myself is always a HUGE challenge. I hate to bring up astrology so early into our introduction, but I’m a: Cancer Sun, Scorpio Moon & Virgo Rising. I don’t know what that says about me, but maybe one of you can tell me how those placements are the reason why I tend to keep to myself. I actually like the fact that most of my followers don’t know what I look like. Occasionally, I decide to post a picture of myself, regret it immediately, and I’ll delete the post a week later. After making several failed personal accounts, I’ve resorted to having a secret spam account that has somehow managed to stay up for a year. Point is, I don’t really share anything about myself on @hell4evr. I guess I don’t really need to since it’s an art account. People only follow for sexy art and vibes. However, it has recently come to my attention that some people perceive me as vibeless and that is just mean. Saying I have no vibe is equivalent to saying that you hate me and that you want me dead in the ground. I am being so serious. One day, I stared at the ceiling and pondered about the state of my vibe when I realized that the vibe police wasn’t entirely at fault because they don’t know anything about me. Mystery is fun and all, but I would like for the H4Evr Community to know more about me and see that I possess a vibe. I think the best way to get a better understanding of who I am is through my characters.

This is where the insanity begins so bear with me. The characters in the H4Evr Universe are all friends, of course, but they are all versions of me in a way. Their interests and personality traits reflect my own. Some of the characters are named after my friends or designed to look like them. They all live in a fictional town called Rosary Lane. I picture Rosary Lane as a semi-rural hidden town located just outside of Los Angeles. It’s 60% countryside, 40% city. Tall grass, empty roads, weird residents, and an ominous air throughout. Something straight out of an A24 horror film. I recently created a “select your fighter” type of post about Rosary Lane if it were a video game, and I started getting into some of the lore surrounding the residents in the city and the unsettling energy that Rosary Lane emits. My characters are all in their early-mid 20’s. They parted ways after high school, but they returned to Rosary Lane after a few years to reconnect. Some friendships in the group grew stronger while some faded away. There’s drama and chaos, but they still care for each other. Euphoria meets Bratz Rock Angelz.

I’ve dipped a toe into storytelling here and there, but I want to dive in head first this year. I’m not a great writer. I haven’t read a book in years, to be honest. But, writing stories and developing character relationships is really fun for me. Releasing a comic book or graphic novel is definitely on my art to-do list. Some of the items on said list have been checked off in the last couple years, which makes me happy. My collab with Hott Kiss Cases is so sexy, having phone cases with my art and designs is the biggest slay. I also can’t believe that I released my first three coloring books in 2022. They are 100% my favorite thing to make. Coloring Book 3 is titled, “Act 3”, which is a reference to the third act in horror films. This book includes Evie & Tracy from Thirteen, cute animals, Pearl, coquette weapons, long braids, and a lot of bows/ribbons.

I am currently working on Coloring Book 4. This one is very different from the rest, but I think the H4Evr Community will like this one. I hope they do.

It’s titled “Dream Closet”. Do what you will with that information. I’m aiming to have it on the site before May.

That’s all I have to say for now. Thank you for reading. See you in Hell.
